Feb. 3rd, 2005 12:45 amWill is in his bedroom, sitting by his desk. In one palm he holds the crystal Sign that Moiraine gave him for his birthday; he is tracing it with a finger, idly, circle and cross. It is smooth beneath his fingers, glittering and faintly cool. He taps it once, in the center, and it glows dimly; again, and the glow fades. He smiles a little, and sets it back on the wooden desk with a soft click.
Another piece of shining crystal catches his eye, as he does so. This one is a perfect globe, small and transparent, resting in a bowl full of paper clips and pencil stubs to keep it from rolling off. Another present, this one from Dream -- no, from Morpheus. Thoughtfully he lifts it, and for a brief moment he is back at his birthday party, laughing, with Bran and Meg hauling him up onto a table while Merriman looks on in amusement.
And then he is back in his attic bedroom, regarding a small crystal globe which sparkles in the yellow lamplight. Without quite knowing why, he slips it into a pocket.
